This small Bothell backyard features a paver patio and seat wall with plenty of room for a fire pit and extra seating. The cedar arbor, perfect for a bench swing, also provides a little privacy from the neighbors. The composite deck landing abuts steel planters for vegetable gardening which also serves as a backstop for the grill on the deck. The back property line fence was replaced with a welded wire mesh fence to enjoy the beauty of the native growth parcel behind it. The old drain bisected the property and was no longer functioning; the new dry stream creates a beautiful way to capture runoff and improve the site’s drainage.
Before construction started, the site was mostly lawn with a concrete patio in the back and low retaining walls in the front and back which was all removed.
After demo was complete, the drystream and boulders were placed to ensure the site had proper drainage.
The paver patio was then started and the planters were delivered.
The plants for the front and back yard were delivered and placed shortly after and the construction on the seat wall and the arbor began. Paver steppers were placed in the front yard as well.
Fence posts were then installed to extend the existing side yard fence and the welded wire mesh fence went up. The deck landing was also starting to take shape and flagstone steppers were added to access the side yard path.
Soon after, the arbor was completed and the finishing touches were added. This project took about 4 weeks to install.
